[nggallery id=”24″]

BFHA President John Stanton would like to thank all of those residents that were able to contribute to the Britton Farms Park cleanup this evening, it was a huge success. We will be sending out an update in the future to finish any projects not completed tonight, stay tuned for more information. Also, a special thanks to fellow resident Greg Rokoff for spearheading this event and getting more upgrades to the park this summer. The city is looking to install a swing sometime this summer.

Britton Farms Park Spring Clean Up and Improvements

Britton Farms Community partners with the Hilliard Recreation and Parks Department

Hilliard Rec and Parks has committed a lot of supplies for Britton Farms Park to make it look fantastic, including a new wheelchair/stroller accessible path to the shelter house. Britton Farms Homeowners will come together to provide hands on support…while making our park look fantastic. Please join us from for fun day of service with our neighbors.

Here is what we have planned:

When: May 21…12:00-3:30

What We Will Do:

  • Park and Rec will spray and lay out gravel on the path. We will help rake and spread it.
  • I asked Park and Rec to make a wheel chair/stroller accessible path from the sidewalk to the shelter house…they agreed to do this. Park and Rec will cut out the path and we will fill it with special gravel that will last a long and support wheels.
  • We will be sanding and painting the picnic tables…and maybe some of the shelter house.
  • Park and Rec is supplying equipment to power wash the shelter house.
  • We will have trash bags and gloves to pick up trash and pile up branches.
  • We will trim some of the trees and bushes.

Food and Drinks: Britton Farms HOA will provide snacks and water.

What to Bring: Rakes, clippers, etc…though we should have plenty.

Why: Because Britton Farms is the best community in Hilliard. It will be a fun day of service and support for our Hilliard Park and Rec. Please plan to join us with your family and let’s make our park something to be proud of…it will be a lot of fun!

Any questions, feel free to contact Greg Rokoff (4529 Withem Court) at either 614-397-9052 or gwrokoff@gmail.com.

Update: 4634 Strayer Dr.

Strayer DrTo:       Members of the Britton Farms Home Owners Association
From:  Ed Kampbell, President / representing the elected Board of the BFHOA
Re:       4634 Strayer

The Board has directed me to provide the membership with notice of the planned use for the residence located at 4634 Strayer Drive (corner of Britton Farms Drive and Strayer Drive). This residence was recently purchased by Creative Housing to provide up to 4 adult special needs individuals with the opportunity to live on their own in a community of single family residences. The remodeling currently underway to make this happen has unfortunately sparked all kinds of speculation, rumors, and concerns due to the lack of any earlier communication with the Board by Creative Housing. To their defense, however, they are not required to serve us with any kind of notice in advance because this group of individuals are covered by the Fair Housing Act which prohibits housing discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. Its coverage includes private housing such as we have here in Britton Farms, and makes it unlawful for one to discriminate in any aspect of selling or renting housing or to deny a dwelling to a buyer or a renter because of the disability of that individual, or a group of individuals who intend to live in that residence.

The Board has further called for a Special Meeting of the HOA membership on Wednesday evening, August 3rd. This meeting will provide residents the opportunity to speak directly with Mr. Patrick Rafter, President of Creative Housing, to understand the non-profit organization he represents and the performance his organization has demonstrated with over 400 of these homes to date. He has also promised to bring along one or more of the parents who have children currently living in a Creative Housing property who will no doubt be able to articulate what these rental residences mean to the families of these individuals and the individuals themselves. Look for additional information to come as to the time and location of this informational meeting as soon as we have secured the location where it will be held.

If there is a lot of interest for Sunday, she will include that as well. Just let Sarah know in your email which days you plan on participating. She is hoping to get a map of the neighborhood printed out and ready for each person to have at their house so that homes in the back of the neighborhood are not missed. (This is the plan as of now, but not promising this piece just yet!) Sarah will get it posted on Craigslist and into the Dispatch as well.
